That's because of the negative stereotype attached to being a promdi. I don't really mind being a promdi since I'm really from the province. Just because we don't live in Metro Manila means we're dumb or stupid.

That observation is probably true. I think it's because we're very concerned with our accent when we speak Tagalog but still end up having that accent when we speak. But when we speak English it comes out more naturally.

That's what I always dislike with Manilenyos. For them, folks who live outside Metro Manila are considered promdi. Some key cities found in the Visayas and Mindanao are also developing like what the cities in Metro Manila do. Nothing's really different aside from the size, I guess. This partiality would always bother me. Anyway, I'm out of the poll.

Back to the sign, I too agree it's with the accent--that is when speaking in Tagalog or English. I'm proud to say though that in call centers, Manila peeps would praise the "Bisaya" because they have this notion that we speak good in English. Ehem! A smart bargain huh! But I would agree it's true. Ehem again! Lol.

Anyway, that's my opinion. It may not be generally apply to every promdi but I'm sure it depends on how he/she projects him/herself to others. It depends on one's "breeding", others would say.

@Lazarus. That's my dilemma when coming up with the choices. We have so many provinces each with it's own uniqueness. Thanks for voting!
