The Best of the Provinces

by PromdiBlogger on January 12, 2009

Different cities in the provinces were featured in Rated K last night for being The Best or? Number One in different areas. It’s not surprising since the Philippine provinces have so much to offer and are just waiting to be discovered.

As a promdi from the Visayas, I’m proud the two Visayan Cities, Cebu and Bacolod, were featured in Rated K. Puerto Princesa in Palawan is a favorite destination for me and I would love to explore again its natural beauty in the near future.

  • Cebu – Best in Business. There’s no doubt that Cebu is the business hub in the Visayas and the gateway to other provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao. You can also find the best danggit and dried mangoes in Cebu.
  • Bacolod CityBest Place to Live. Bacolod City was named as the Best Place to Live in the Philippines by MoneySense Magazine last year. That was something special for me since PromdiLiving was mentioned in that magazine article and I was interviewed and quoted by MoneySense. Why Bacolod is the best place to live? Because Bacolod is an urban city with that distinct Southern charm. It keeps abreast with development yet still maintain the laid back lifestyle.
  • Palawan – Best Tourist Destination. When it comes to nature and preserving it, hands down to Palawan and it’s people. Tubbataha reef is the number one diving site in the world. Like Tubbataha, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River is nominated for the New Seven Wonders of Nature and is currently on the top spot. Puerto Princesa is likewise a Hall of Fame Awardee for the Cleanest and Greenest City in the Philippines. A visit to Palawan last year? made me? fall in love with it at first sight. I vowed to return to tropical paradise Palawan in the coming years. Every island is an adventure in Palawan and there are 1,768 islands in the province. Just imagine how much of an adventure you’ll have.

People who are tired of the rat race in the urban center are considering settling in the provinces. Opportunities still abound in the province for those who are willing to look for it. And the perks are limitless.

Those who were not able to watch Rated K, here’s a video courtesy of my friend Anton.

Wow! Congratulations!!! I’ve only been to Bacolod City once and I had a blast when I was there. Galing kami nang Iloilo but that’s been years!!! Post ka nang pics nang Bacolod please!

I also love Cebu (and Davao as well), I have friends in the city and that’s where I learned how to speak Bisaya. I was there in May 2008 and I could see how the city has improved tremendously. Of course, there’s no question about the beauty of Palawan. I was assigned to audit a mining company in Roxas City then. An layo nun by jeep hahaha!

Interestingly, ba’t wala ang Bohol? I hope next time they take a second look of Bohol. It’s a really really nice place.

@Reynz – ay ewan kay Korina bakit hindi nya nai-feature ang Bohol sa episode na yun. I’ve been to Bohol also and I love the place. Well preserved ang mga heritage sites. OK, I’ll post pictures in the next few days. Baka malayong malayo na ang itsure ng Bacolod ngayon compared to the last time you were here.

Uy ano ni? New font?

Palawan is the best place to go if you want to just relax. I wouldn’t recommend Boracay anymore, it’s an overcrowded overpriced tourist trap. At least during summers and Holy Week. Hahaha.

Still the best place for me is Bacolod. Home is where the heart is kuno mu.
