Testicles to Die For

by PromdiBlogger on January 29, 2009

Before you get your mind all dirty, I’m only referring to the news that  seven Japanese were reportedly poisoned after eating grilled blowfish testicle. Blowfish or fugu is a priced delicacy in Japan but a chef needs a license to prepare it. The owner of the restaurant, and also its chef, who prepared the fubu was apparently not licensed.

We call them “butete” and we know you’re not supposed to eat them unless you want to die. Blowfish is packed with a poison called tetrodotoxin which is 100 times more poisonous than cyanide. Of course not many Filipinos know that too and in the face of poverty, some are adventurous enough to try eating blowfish. You may have heard news of a poor fisherman or his family died after eating blowfish.

I eat to live so I would steer clear of those exotic food that may send me to my grave. If it’s testicles you want, you can have one in the Philippines without endagering your life. I’m sure anywhere in the Philippines, may it be in the urban centers or in the provinces, there’s a carinderia that serves soup no. 5. That’s soup from bull’s testicles and penis which is a local delicacy in the Philippines. It’s a better alternative than the blowfish testicles since it won’t kill you and it’s believed to be an aprodisiac.

At least now I know blowfish has testicles too.

So blowfishes have balls? This sounds like a Fear Factor stunt gone wrong. Hehe.

I saw an episode of CSI New York where a man killed someone by feeding her exotic food like octopus tentacles. Nakibot ko kay I didn’t know octopuses (octopi?) had testicles, gali kay tentacles. Haha.

@Reynz – hahaha! yuck naman yung testicles na yan! nag isda ha, nakamamatay pa.

@Tikalon – I saw that episode, that was an alive baby octopus. It was supposed to be wrapped on a stick in a special way so thay when you swallow it its tentacles will not hang on your throat or something. I don’t know why people get thrills out of eating food that may kill them.
