@Jack - Congrats to your city! Let's hope there will be more investments for the provinces and not only for Metro Manila cities.

I have made corrections on this post. Bacolod was ranked No. 15 instead of 17 as what I previously posted since there are cities with the same scores. However, Bacolod is still below 16 cities. :-D

Its weird gid. The mayor is contributing it to poor reporting from the city planning. Here's what he said in the newspaper yesterday.

“This is a big surprise since we expected a much better result,” Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said. It’s ironic and hard to believe that what seemed to have pulled the city down is the area of dynamism of local economy, he said.

Apparently, it is a case of bad reporting on the part of the City Planning and Development Office, he said, “because we all know that our economy in the past years had metamorphosed into a very vibrant one.”

Well, I feel sorry for the CPDO. They will surely receive some lambasting from the Mayor. :-D

I can't explain the significant drop of Bacolod's rank either. It's weird how Bacolod's competitiveness ranking can change so drastically lower in just 2 years despite a growing and strong local economy.

Marcos C.s last blog post..<a href="http://www.exploreiloilo.com/typhoon-frank-causes-flood-in-kalibo-and-the-rest-of-aklan-help-needed.html" rel="nofollow">Typhoon Frank causes flood in Kalibo and the rest of Aklan, help needed!</a>

Thanks May for visiting. That's the biggest problem here even in Bacolod. Permi lang may brownout. Most of those on the to are new entrants to the survey.

Well, that's another way of looking at it. At least mga new cities are catching up on old cities. On the other hand, old cities should not be complacent. Security is another consideration. I'll stick to Bacolod or Iloilo na lang. :-D

It's because Iloilo City could not accommodate investors' infra/power/water requirements, cost of doing business in Iloilo is quite higher compared to GenSan and Tagum...daw barato lang kuryente sa ila...galing lang lapit sa bombahanay...ti risgo na nila e.

On the other hand, it's one way also to promote these cities, to hype up...that they are competitive so as to make them attractive to investors.

hmm... Iloilo seems to have lots of projects from last year to this year ... just maybe corruption has gotten the most of it that the implementation of those projects didn't go as planned... that maybe the reason why Iloilo ranked low ... A-LOT of corrupt minds here.
