Later on in the news, NHI denied having approved it. As far as I'm concerned, there is a Republic Act concerning the national anthem of the Philippines (and other national symbols as well) and artists should be aware that the National Anthem is not one of those songs they could "revive" or sing using their own version. Laws are enacted so that people would observe it and ignorance of the law excuses no one from compliance therewith. It is quite sad that lawmakers want to waste time and introduce amendments as to how the national anthem should be sang. Giving it a reverential rendition doesn’t make sense. There is no country in the world which has several versions of their national anthem. Martin Nievera’s rendition is down right pathetic. It looked like a desparate effort to revive a dying career. He should not use Manny Pacquiao as an excuse to break the law. He should’ve known better… Martin should not be too proud of his rendition of the national anthem. Is it the singer? Or the reps for the fighter? Or the promoter? Kay man ga ilog man kita sa mga Kano. LOL. Kita mo ya, sa ila magkanta sila Star Spangled Banner super birit to the max. Pati ang arrangement is tailored for that full-on birit mode. TBH, even the Lupang Hinirang being played on some channels during sign off does not even have that marching beat.
