Michael Jackson is Dead

by PromdiBlogger on June 26, 2009

The King of Pop Michael Jackson is dead as confirmed by the LA Times. He was 50 years old. Most of us grew up with him and his music. Who would forget the Jackson5 and their big hits? Michael Jackson was the world’s most influential singer before his career dived due to a series of scandals.

michael-jacksonYou might think of him as a freak. Look at him during his Thriller days and compare it to his present look. If you haven’t seen him on TV you might not think of them as the same person. His skin has gotten lighter and his nose narrower that he looks more like a Caucasian.

He might be a strange person but he is one damn of an artist. Thank you for the music and may you rest in peace Michael Jackson.

Vietnam Vacation: Tour Package or On Your Own?

by PromdiBlogger on June 23, 2009

I’ve been thinking of having a vacation with a group of friends and Vietnam is on top of my Southeast Asian destinations. First, it’s Third World so I will not need a lot of money to go there. Second, Vietnam and the Philippines are both members of the ASEAN so we don’t need a Visa to visit Vietnam as tourists.

halong-bay

Halong Bay is probably the most famous tourist spot in Vietnam. It currently leads in the ranking for Seascapes Category of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Since it’s a famous destination, you can expect very good accommodation facilities there. The question is, can I afford it?

Last year, a group of entrepreneurs assisted by our office went on a business trip to Vietnam and also to have a vacation. Instead of going to the usual tour operators offering Vietnam vacation packages, they scoured the internet for information. This way, they were able to save some money for shopping.

We’ve been thinking of doing the same, search the internet for information and go as backpackers to Vietnam. Blogs offer some detailed and reliable information. Online hotel booking facilities also offer big discounts if you book online.

I checked out www.AccorHotels.com for hotels located along Halong Bay and there’s only one recommended, Novotel Halong Bay. It’s located along the beach so it’s very convenient. The amenities are likewise impressive. The rates are also comparable to Philippine hotels.

The rates can still be reduced because of Accor Hotels City Super Sale where travelers can get up to 60% discount on room reservations if they book online. However, this is on a limited time only. Travelers can avail of the discount if they book between 3 – 29 June, for stays between July 10 and September 30, 2009.

Hotels in 27 cities in in ten countries in Asia Pacific can avail of the discount. Just checkout www.AccorHotels.com for the different hotels included in the discount. Hotels are reducing their prices the same with airline companies because it’s travel off-season.

Really, if you know how and where to look for information and discounts, you will no longer need  Vietnam vacation packages that are very expensive. Hopefully, the next time I post it will be about my Vietnam travel.

June 21, 2009

Ever wonder why Japanese women have beautiful skin? Apparently it has something to do with the rice wine or sake. No, they don’t drink it but apply it on their skin.
I accidentally came across an article describing how kojic acid found in Japanese rice wine (sake) reduces the body’s ability to form the type of [...]

Martin Nievera Sings A New Version of the Lupang Hinirang

May 4, 2009

I know I’ve been a little biased when I say that Lea Salonga should sing the National Anthem in the Pacquiao Vs. Hatton fight. I still think she would be good at it and I hope Team Pacquiao would consider her in his future fights.
But I must admit, Martin Nievera’s version was better than the [...]
