Senator Benigno Aquino III has just been proclaimed the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines. He was not my president before the election but since the people voted for him, he is my president now. As such, I have my own expectations. No, I don’t care if he smokes as long as he doesn’t use the people’s money and only in smoking areas. I also don’t expect him to solve our country’s corruption problem. Not in his term. That would be asking for the heavens. But I hope change will start from him as he promised.
Good luck to you President Noynoy and may you prove your critics wrong and be a good president of the country. To be the president of the Philippines is a tough job. We Filipinos can sometimes ask too much from our leaders that sometimes you’d think we are asking from a saint.
I just have one wish though. I hope you will bring progress to the countryside. Philippines is not just Metro Manila. There are a lot of provinces that need your attention. There are still a lot of places in the provinces without the basic services coming from the government.
Good luck again, you’ll be needing a lot of it.
