Earthquake Caused Cracks at New Silay Airport

by PromdiBlogger on August 4, 2008

What I thought was just a light earthquake at 2:14 a.m. last Saturday, August 2, actually strong caused ‘hairline cracks on some concrete walls and dislodged acoustic boards’ at the new Bacolod-Silay Airport (source). The quake was intensity 6 in Sagay, Cadiz and Silay Cities and intensity 4 on the Richter scale in Bacolod City.

I plurked and tweeted about the experience but I was a scared enough that I forgot to blog about it. Actually I immediately turned off the PC and ready myself to go outside just in case the quake will get worse. It only lasted for a few seconds so that wasn’t necessary. However, I immediately went to bed, but not before I say my prayer. I thought, at least if ever I’ll die in my sleep I’ll be ready to face my creator.
