Anger Management, Now
I feel homicidal right now and the person at the receiving end of my wrath is no other than my dear older sister. My niece just texted me that my dear sister did not buy our mom’s prescription yesterday so she will have no medicines to take for 1:00 PM today. And what’s more, the drug in question is her anti-coagulation drug, being a stroke survivor, it’s her most important medication. Upon hearing this, I almost packed my bag and board the next fast craft to Iloilo. I feel like throwing and breaking things but changed my mind for that would only be a waste of energy and money. I just cry out of frustration.
My sister has just proved my suspicions ever since, that she’s really that stupid irresponsible. To her credit, she is a registered Midwife. That’s why I trust her to take care of Nanay and her needs and to make decisions in connection with our parents’ health. But ever since Nanay had her stroke, I’m questioning her capacity for decision making as well as her capacity to care. I should have known, her past decisions in life were often discussed and questioned among family members. But she’s my sister and I care for her so I’ll forgive her. But not before she will get a few tongue lashing from me the next time we meet. She’s lucky it will be next week so I’ve pretty much cooled down during that time.
On the other hand, my dependable niece who just came back from her duty as a nursing student from a hospital in a far flung town in Iloilo hurriedly bought her Lola’s medicines. I have reason to trust my niece for I have seen how she took care of her Lola. She was with me all those times we spent in the hospital. She was even the one changing her Lola’s diaper. She has took it upon herself to shoulder part of the responsibilities that should have been ours. With that, she has earned my admiration and trust. Things I don’t give out easily. Thank God. Stupidity Callousness is an isolated mutation in the bloodline.
